The Red Brick Inn

This 200 year old hotel once served as a steamboat stop along the Cumberland River en route from St Louis to Nashville. Sitting as the corner stone of the once-great city of Canton (which was then the size of Nashville), the Inn provided a livery stable for guests to rent horses, a tavern for refreshment, and the only county jail cell. Stories abound of the notable figures that have stepped off the steamboat and graced the halls of our establishment, from US Presidents Polk, Grant & Jackson to Jenny Lind, Marquis de Lafayette, and Davy Crockett. Even the notorious Jesse James is said to have spent some time in the Tavern. Today, the Red Brick Inn sits on the shore of Lake Barkley and overlooks the Land Between the Lakes state park, where visitors hike, fish, camp and explore the wildlife. After decades of disrepair and serving as a private residence, this important part of LBL history has been re-established as a Bed & Breakfast and looking to serve an entire new generation of guests and tavern-goers.
