Extreme Climbing Adventures in Kentucky

With hundreds of hiking trails, abundant forests and state parks, miles upon miles of rivers and lakes, and the longest underground cave system in the world, it's no wonder Kentucky is such a popular destination for extreme adventures.  From the simple to the extreme, Kentucky has it all.  Spend your summer vacation climbing up walls, across treetops, and below ground.  You won't regret it. There are a lot of places for rock climbing in Kentucky, but perhaps none better than Red River Gorge.  The climbing routes at Red River Gorge are some of the best in the world, and attract thousands of climbers each year.  Routes are fit for all kinds of climbers, including bouldering, sport and trad climbing.  You can bring your own gear, but there are also several outfitters in the area that can help with gear and guides.  Other great places for rock climbing are Breaks Interstate Park, and Carter Caves State Resort Park. Ziplining is the newest adventure craze, and it's no wonder.  It's incredibly fun!  If you haven't tried it yet, Kentucky is a great place to do so.  Zip Lines and Canopy Tours can be found at many of Kentucky's most popular tourist destinations, and make for an enjoyable day of adventures.  The Black Mountain Thunder zipline offers an incredible 2 hour ziplining adventure, featuring breathtaking views of the Appalachian Mountains.  At the Jefferson Memorial Forest in Louisville, treetop adventures take on a new meaning.  There are 5 treetop obstacle course sections, each leading you higher into the forest canopy. Adventures include the Log Swing, Wobbly Ladder, 2 Tarzan swings and 5 exhilarating zip lines.  Kentucky Action Park near Mammoth Caves National Park features the longest zipline in the country at more than 1/2 mile, all more than 300
feet off the ground.  If you want to combine caving and ziplines, go the the Louisville MegaCavern, where you'll find a five- line underground zipline adventure.  Finally, the Pine Mountain Zipline Canopy Tour features 7 separate lines, 2 rappels and 2 suspension bridges for an afternoon filled with adventure. Caving is an adventure in altitude just like rock climbing and ziplining, although in the opposite direction.  Caving has long been a popular tourist activity in Kentucky, and places like Mammoth Cave National Park are famous the world over.  Other popular places for caving include: Carter Caves State Resort Park, Hidden River Cave, Lost River Cave where you can take an underground boat tour, Louisville Mega Caverns, and Outlaw Cave in Kentucky Action Park. After a full day of climbing above or below ground, we know you're going to need somewhere comfortable to relax, unwind, and prepare for your next full day of adventure ahead.  That's why Kentucky Bed and Breakfast's are the best choice for lodging.  No where else will you enjoy the same combination of southern hospitality, comfortable accommodations, modern amenities, and delicious breakfasts.  Find an Inn close to where you want to be, then book your room.  Your climbing adventures await in Kentucky!
