If you're cruising along in Cave City, Kentucky and suddenly see the head of a Tyrannosaurus Rex peeping down at you through the vegetation, don't scream but do pull over - you're at Dinosaur World Kentucky!
Dinosaur World is the name of three outdoor museums, one in Plant City, Florida, one in Glen Rose, Texas, and the third right here in Cave City, Kentucky, where you can get up close and personal with life size replicas of the amazing, gigantic creatures that once walked the Earth.
Most people think of children when it comes to an attraction like Dinosaur World but the dinosaurs here are guaranteed to fascinate all, not just kids - and I hold that the sight of a life-size dinosaur model brings out the kid in most of us, anyway!
The dinosaur models - over 150! - at Dinosaur World are up to eighty feet in length, made of fiberglass, steel, and concrete, and are based on the latest scientific discoveries - so this isn't just fun and fascination but education as well!
The replica dinosaurs are arranged outside in a variety of settings amongst the natural foliage in groups of as many as eleven of a single species so as to further simulate how these magnificent and mysterious beasts might have looked in their natural habitat. You wont believe how REAL they look!
But that's not all ...
Kids between the ages of 3 and 12 also have the opportunity to see what it's like to be a paleontologist by participating in the "fossil-dig." This fun and educational activity involves sifting through sand in a paleontological setting in search of authentic fossils. Over 10 types of authentic fossils can be found and kids get to keep up to 3 of the fossils they find. I'll bet they'll really "dig" that - eh? (sorry - I couldn't help myself)
