All across the beautiful state of Kentucky, Mother Nature's annual fall color show is showing hints of what's to come this year. As early as September, you'll find fall colors peeking out of the higher elevations of the eastern mountains.  The pops of red, orange, and yellow gradually work their way down the mountains and to the west, peaking sometime during mid-late October, and sometimes extending all the way into November.  Getting out in the mountains for a hike or scenic bike ride is a great way to see fall's splendor, and scenic drives through the countryside can be a visually rewarding experience. • Enjoy a Scenic Drive through Daniel Boone National Forest. At the northern end of this popular stretch of hardwood, you'll find the stunning Red River Gorge and the Zilpo Scenic Byways. Down south, the Wilderness Road Heritage Highway passes through some heavily wooded and mountainous terrain that will surely display Kentucky's fall colors at their best.
  
• Drive the Woodlands Trace National Scenic Byway in Western Kentucky.
  
• Travel Kentucky by rail on the Big South Fork Scenic Railway.
  
• Stroll through the incredible trails at Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest. Colorful fall displays from a variety of trees, including maples, dogwoods, magnolias, conifers, cypresses, hollies, beeches and buckeyes will delight your senses.
  
• Explore the fall colors at one of Kentucky's incredible state parks, including Mammoth Cave National Park, Lake Cumberland State Resort Park, and Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area.
