What to Wear to the Kentucky Derby

For many, the entire reason to go to the Kentucky Derby is for the fashion. And the fashion at this event rarely disappoints! Attendees of this great event definitely pull out all the stops when it comes to the hats and outfits they wear. Women typically wear pastel-colored dresses and suits, but the most important part of the outfit tends to be the hat. Hats are outlandishly stylish, and definitely not something to hold back on!

Derby hats were born of Southern traditions, but have taken on something of a life of their own. If there is one piece of your outfit to splurge on, it should be the hat. Moreover, wearing a hat to the derby itself is considered to be good luck. Though men haven't traditionally worn hats to quite the same extent, recent years have seen a change to that tradition, with many men choosing to join the spectacle and celebration. Whatever you choose to do, have fun!
