A Visit to Bourbon Country

Bourbon is an American Whiskey produced under a specific set of guidelines, and predominantly made in southern Kentucky.  This fine spirit had it's start in the 1700s, with the first settlers of Kentucky.  In those days, difficult-to-transport crops were instead turned into much easier-to-move whiskies. These early whiskies also happened to offer a welcome respite from a laborious frontier life. Over successive generations, Kentuckians have continued making and refining these unique whiskies, often using the same process as their ancestors. Today, you'll find a range of Bourbon styles, including traditional, high-rye, and high-wheat bourbons.
Today, there are over 20 working distilleries in Kentucky.  Many of these distilleries offer public tours and delicious tastings of their fine spirits. Each distillery offers something different, as they all work with their own specific mash bills (recipes), yeast strains, and levels of barrel char and age.  The Kentucky Bourbon Trail is a wonderful way to explore this spirited side of Kentucky. There are 8 scenic stops on the trail, as well as some of Kentucky's signature Bourbon Brands. Distilleries can found in a variety of cities across Kentucky, including: Bardstown

Bowling Green

 Crestwood

 Frankfort

Lawrenceburg

Lexington

Loretto

Louisville

 Northern Kentucky

 Pembroke
Shepardsville
